Filter Accessories

The cartridge is only half a filtration system. The head it screws into sets the bypass rate — how much unfiltered water is blended back in — and getting that wrong means either scale in the boiler or flat-tasting coffee.

We stock Brita Purity C heads including 0–70% adjustable and fixed 30% versions, with or without 3/8 John Guest push-fit connections.

As a rule of thumb, espresso wants some mineral content left in for extraction, so a bypass around 30% suits most coffee machines in hard-water areas. Steam ovens and glass washers want closer to zero. If you are unsure, test your water hardness first — guessing is what kills boilers.
