What Is a HuskeeCup?

HuskeeCup is a reusable coffee cup manufactured from the outer husk of coffee beans — the protective shell removed during milling that is typically discarded as agricultural waste. Approximately 1.7 million tonnes of coffee husk is produced globally every year. Huskee processes this waste material into a durable compound used to make the cup body and lid, diverting material that would otherwise go to landfill or be burned.

The result is a cup with a distinctive natural texture and appearance — warm to hold, tactile in a way that smooth plastic cups are not, and visually unlike anything else on a café counter. It won the Good Design Award in 2018, one of the longest-running and most internationally recognised design awards.

The Practical Features

The sustainability credentials are the headline, but the cup is also well-engineered for everyday use:

• Heat retention without discomfort — the coffee husk material insulates well enough to keep drinks hotter for longer, while the exterior does not transmit heat to the fingers the way thin ceramic or uninsulated glass can. No sleeve required.
• Universal lid — the triangulated vent lid fits every size in the Huskee range. If a customer loses or forgets a lid, any replacement lid from your stock will fit regardless of cup size.
• Stackable — the cups stack neatly for storage behind the counter or on display, taking up less space than most reusable cup formats.
• Dishwasher safe — built with smart drainage vents so water does not pool in the lid when run through a commercial dishwasher. Practical for café use where cups are washed continuously through service.
• BPA-free and non-toxic — no harmful chemicals in the material, safe for all hot and cold beverages.

Sizes and Colours

HuskeeCup is available in two sizes:

• 8oz (240ml) — suited to flat whites, cortados, small lattes, and espresso-based drinks in a smaller format
• 12oz (360ml) — the standard latte and filter coffee size, the more versatile of the two for most café menus

Both are available in Natural (a warm mid-brown tone that reflects the coffee husk material) and Charcoal (a darker grey-brown finish). Both colours have the same distinctive ribbed exterior texture.

Single packs and four-packs are available — four-packs offer better value for venues stocking the cups for retail sale or for customers who want a set.

How Cafés Use HuskeeCup

There are two practical models for using HuskeeCup in a café setting:

Retail sale to customers — stock HuskeeCups at the counter and sell them directly. Customers who buy their own cup can then bring it back for their daily coffee. This reduces your disposable cup costs and gives customers a reason to return. A visible HuskeeCup display also signals your venue's sustainability credentials without requiring any signage.

In-house reusable cup programme — some venues use HuskeeCups as the default serve for dine-in customers rather than paper cups, eliminating single-use waste entirely for table and counter service. The stackable design and dishwasher compatibility make this workable even in high-volume environments.

Pricing

Single packs are priced at £16.00 ex VAT for the 8oz and £18.00 ex VAT for the 12oz, with lids included. Four-packs offer a lower per-unit cost for customers buying as a set or for venues purchasing display stock.
