The Bezzera Aria is a 1-group semi-professional traditional espresso machine that bridges the gap between high-end home machines and entry-level commercial equipment. It can be installed anywhere — no mains water connection required — and combines the thermal stability and build quality of a commercial machine with the compact footprint of a domestic unit. At H411 × W250 × D428mm and 24kg, it fits comfortably on a café counter, in a small restaurant, or in a high-quality workplace kitchen where espresso quality matters.
The heart of the Aria is a 1.5-litre heat exchanger boiler paired with a genuine E61 group head running on thermosiphonic circulation — the same hydraulic system found in much more expensive commercial machines. The thermosiphon keeps brew group temperature passively stable without additional heating elements, ensuring the group is always at the right temperature and that the first shot of the day is as consistent as the twentieth. A 3-litre internal water tank removes the need for plumbing, though the rotary pump variants can also be connected to a mains water supply.
MN (Manual) vs. PID / Flow Control Variants
The Aria is available in two configurations, selectable at checkout:
- MN Manual — vibration pump; traditional operation with no electronic brewing controls. Ideal for operators who want simplicity and rely on technique and recipe discipline.
- PID + Shot Timer + Flow Control — rotary motor pump; adds adjustable brewing temperature (PID), a shot timer chronometer, and a paddle-controlled flow profiler on the group. Allows precise brewing pressure adjustment for different coffees and roasts. Also supports dual water source (mains or internal tank). This is the recommended option for specialty coffee environments.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a heat exchanger boiler and why does it matter?
A heat exchanger (HX) boiler uses a single large boiler for steam and hot water, with a separate internal tube — the heat exchanger — for brewing water. The brewing water passes through the hot boiler on its way to the group, picking up heat without mixing with boiler water. This means the Aria can steam milk and brew espresso simultaneously without a second dedicated boiler. It also means the group temperature remains stable between shots, which is the key benefit for quality and consistency.
Do I need plumbing to install the Bezzera Aria?
No — the MN Manual version operates entirely from the 3-litre internal tank, with no mains connection needed. The PID/Flow Control version with the rotary pump also supports tank operation, but can additionally be plumbed into a mains water supply for high-volume use. Tank capacity (3L) gives you approximately 20–25 espresso shots before refilling, depending on dose.
Is the Bezzera Aria suitable for café use?
The Aria is rated as semi-professional — it’s a step above a home machine, but a 1-group machine in a busy café will be working at its limits. For venues pulling more than 30–40 covers of espresso per day, we’d recommend considering a 2-group machine from the Bezzera commercial range. For a small café, a quiet office, or a venue where espresso quality matters but volume is modest, the Aria is an excellent choice. Contact us for advice on the right machine for your throughput.
