Jura Cool Control 1L Milk Cooler

Milk foam is only as good as the milk going into it, and milk foams best at 4°C. The Cool Control holds a full litre at exactly that temperature from the first coffee of the day to the last, so a latte made at half four tastes like the one made at nine.

This is the 1 litre model – the right size for a home kitchen, a small office or a meeting room turning out a few dozen milk drinks a day. It stands 19cm tall and takes a 14.5cm slice of worktop beside the machine.

Milk level on the machine

The Cool Control can tell the coffee machine how much milk is left, so the machine warns you before it runs dry rather than half way through a latte. That link needs hardware at both ends, and it is not included:

• Over Bluetooth – a JURA Wireless Transmitter (art. 24031) in the Cool Control, and JURA Smart Connect in the machine.
• Over Wi-Fi – JURA WiFi Connect in both the Cool Control and the machine.

One thing worth knowing before you buy: a Smart Connect can carry either the Cool Control or the J.O.E. app, not both. If you already run the app on that machine, the Wi-Fi route is the one you want.

Where it Goes

The Cool Control stands on the counter beside the coffee machine. The milk pipe is short – it is made to bridge the gap between the two, not to reach an under-counter fridge. It also needs a firm, level surface, because the milk level is worked out by weight, and clear air around the side vents.

Cleaning and Care

• Container, cover, adapter and metal tube all go in the dishwasher
• Empty and clean the container and metal tube after each day’s use – do not keep topping up the same milk
• Wipe the unit itself with a damp cloth; it is not dishwasher safe and must not be immersed
• Switch it off overnight – it is not built for continuous running
• Nothing on the lid: the milk level is measured by weight, so anything resting on top throws the reading out
