Sussex is where we are based. Allied Drinks Systems has run out of Eastbourne since 1993, our workshop and parts stock are here, and a good share of our engineers live in the county. We are CoffeeSafe accredited and carry out PSSR boiler inspections alongside routine servicing and breakdown repair.

Water in Sussex is hard — and it decides what goes wrong
Sussex is supplied by South East Water and Southern Water. Hardness across the area runs around 250–300 ppm as calcium carbonate, classed as hard to very hard. That one number drives almost everything about how a commercial machine ages here, which is why we test it on site rather than assume it.
Most of Sussex draws from the chalk of the South Downs. Scale is the single biggest killer of commercial boilers here: it insulates the heating element so the machine works harder for the same temperature, then it takes out the solenoids and the fill probe.
Our workshop and parts stock are in Eastbourne, so Sussex jobs are the ones we can usually turn round fastest — and if a machine has to come off site, it does not travel far.
On hard water in Sussex the bulk of a service visit goes on descaling, the boiler and element, and the fill probe and solenoids that scale takes out first. We specify Brita Purity filtration against your actual throughput rather than fitting the same cartridge everywhere.
The faults we actually see in Sussex
In Sussex the three callouts we get most are scaled boilers on unfiltered machines, group solenoids sticking after a hard-water summer, and steam wands blocked with a mix of scale and milk protein. All three are filtration and cleaning problems rather than mechanical failures, which means all three are preventable.
The Sussex trade we work with
Sussex is our home patch. It runs seaside hospitality with brutal summer peaks and quiet Januaries, a strong independent scene in Brighton and Lewes, farm shops and vineyards across the Downs, and a steady base of office and school sites inland.

Common questions about servicing in Sussex
How often should a machine be serviced in Sussex?
Annually as a minimum, and every six months on anything pulling serious volume. Water moves that: hard water in Sussex means scale management drives the interval.
Do I need a water filter in Sussex?
Yes. At around 250–300 ppm as calcium carbonate an unfiltered machine in Sussex will scale measurably within months, and scale damage is not covered by any manufacturer warranty.
Do you only service machines you supplied?
No — we work on most commercial makes across Sussex regardless of where they came from.
