Schaerer Uptime! Decalcification Cartridge, 120 g

The Uptime! cartridge is Schaerer’s single-use descaling cartridge for machines fitted with its Uptime! descaling system, such as the Coffee Soul and Coffee Skye. Instead of waiting for an engineer, the machine tracks how much water has passed through its boilers and tells you when a descale is due. You fit the cartridge, start the programme from the touchscreen and the machine does the rest.

How it works

• When the machine prompts for descaling, fit the cartridge where the on-screen guide shows and confirm.
• The descaling programme runs on its own and takes around 85 minutes, so most sites run it after close and the machine is ready for the morning.
• Once the cycle has finished, remove the empty cartridge and dispose of it. Each cartridge is for one descaling cycle only.
• Let the programme finish. Schaerer’s instructions say a cartridge from an interrupted cycle must not be reused and should be disposed of as hazardous waste.

Why use the genuine cartridge

Schaerer specifies only its own approved cartridges for the Uptime! system. The wrong descaler can damage boilers, valves and seals and can void your warranty. This is the genuine Schaerer part, article number 079293.

How often

The machine decides when a descale is due from its throughput and water hardness setting. As a guide, sites on filtered water typically see a prompt every six months or so, and more often on hard water without filtration. Keeping a cartridge on site means the prompt never holds up service.
